Joshua J. Yi’s practice primarily focuses on providing technical and legal assistance to federal judges on complex, highly technical patent cases. After earning a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Dr. Yi worked for Freescale Semiconductor (now NXP) for five years as a performance analyst and microprocessor/SoC designer.
After earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law, Dr. Yi spent seven years at Dechert LLP practicing patent litigation, which included three jury verdicts.
Dr. Yi then spent over a year as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Alan D Albright in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.
Dr. Yi now serves as a court-appointed Technical Advisor or Special Master for federal judges nationwide in patent litigation matters.
In addition, Dr. Yi serves on the editorial board of IEEE Micro, which is IEEE’s flagship publication on computer architecture, where he writes a column on patents.
